Principal's Corner

Spring 2018

Each school year passes more quickly than the last - we are already planning for the Class of 2018’s graduation!  Seniors have a lot to look forward to these next few months including Grad Nite and Prom.

The highlight of the fall semester was the grand opening of the Performing Arts Center.  There were many events to showcase this state-of-the-art facility to the public and the PVHS community.  With School of Rock as the inaugural production, the stage was alive with the dramatic and musical talents of our students.  It was truly a marvelous show and we look forward to the upcoming musical this spring, Footloose.  Don’t miss it!

Our adminstrative staff has changed as Mrs. Chavarria was selected as the Director of the Multilingual and Migrant Education Programs.  We thank her for her valued contributions to PV over the last seven years and wish her the very best in her new role.  Mr. Dickinson will be the Assistant Principal of Instruction.  Mr.  Collier returns to Pioneer Valley from Delta High School and will join the administrative team  as the Assistant Principal of Student Services.  Welcome!

Work continues on the development of our career pathways where students can become certified as “career ready” in areas including Agriculture, Business, Industrial Arts Technology, Family Consumer Sciences, Medical Health and Arts, Entertainment and Media.  The latest flyers are located in the Counseling Office or the College & Career Center for students to access.

Registration is underway for the fall of 2018.  Students are meeting with their counselors 1:1 to select courses for next year.  Registration for junior high students begins this month also.   Presentations are planned at each of the three feeder junior high schools for parents.   New this year is an online registration process for the Class of 2022.   Eighth grade parents will have the opportunity to tour the campus during Future Panther Night on May 9, 2018.

Educational trainings for parents continue.  Parents on a Mission and the Parent Involvement through Dialogue and Action classes all begin the week of January 22nd.   A technology workshop on January 30th will be offered at 5:30 in the Library Labs.   Panther Forum for Parents, an informational night will be on February 22nd.  Parents are highly encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities.

Please visit the school website often for the latest information on school events and activities.
