Spring 2016

As we return from spring recess and begin the countdown toward graduation, I would like to highlight some of the culminating events during one of the busiest of seasons.  More details about each event can be found on our school website.

Parents on a Mission – April 16 through May 19th

This six-week course will be taught by PVHS staff in both English and Spanish for six consecutive Thursdays.  With topics including proper use of discipline, earning respect, and community building, this course will provide parents with tools to be leaders in their homes and community.  Call the school to reserve a seat today as space is limited.

Panther Forum for Parents – April 5th

This ongoing series continues and gives parents an interactive forum with school administration and staff.  The next meeting will include presentations by law enforcement on ways to monitor your student’s use of social media as well as open forum time for questions.

Boosters Monte Carlo Night – April 16th

This annual event is a major fundraiser for our Booster Club that supports student activities and athletics. I would encourage all parents to become involved.

Future Panther Night – April 27th

This evening event is designed to showcase school programs for incoming ninth graders and their families.  It is a wonderful introduction to the multitude of opportunities that await freshmen next school year.

With April, testing season begins.  On April 14th, all 10th graders will take a California Standards Test  (CST) in Life Science.   Tenth graders will report for testing at 7:45 a.m. and all other students will have a late start day beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Eleventh graders will participate in Smarter Balanced assessements the last two weeks of April in their English class and AP Exams begin the first week of May.

May will be filled with performance and end-of-the-year activities including Drama Dinner Theater, Spring Band and Choir Concerts and the traditional Powder Puff Game.  Seniors have much to look forward to in May with Prom, Grad Nite, and Senior Awards Night.  I encourage all seniors to use their best judgment in representing PVHS at these events as they approach the most important event of their high school career – graduation.

Pioneer Valley High School's tenth graduation ceremony will be June 9th at 1:00 pm in Panther Stadium.  I look forward to celebrating the achievements with the Class of 2016 and their families.
