Fall 2019

Hello Panther Family,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are so excited for a new year and new opportunities.

As we begin, we ask that all parents have an Aeries portal account to stay aware of your student's grades. The portal provides weekly updates via text message and email so you can see your student’s grades and recent coursework activity. It is also important to take advantage of the REMIND app and to check the school website regularly for current information. Parents are encouraged to email staff and be involved in their students’ academic performance.

Student achievement continues to be the number one priority for PV.  State and federal guidelines encourage a well-rounded student who is focused on the A – G college requirements and completes both Chemistry and Algebra 2 classes. There is also an emphasis on career pathways that require two consecutive courses in a specific elective pathway. All students who complete the A-G requirements will receive the white PVHS graduation stole to wear on stage for graduation. Please contact your student's counselor for details.

Our district is fortunate to be a tablet initiative school, so every student is expected to bring their tablet charged and ready for the courses in which it is required. PVHS provides beautiful embroidered tablet cases for the student at no charge, so please encourage your student to pick one up in the front office. We also have information on low-cost internet plans for any family that may not have internet in their home. Please contact our community liaison Araceli Mandujano at 922-1305 ext. 5758 for details.

Link Crew Orientation will be Wednesday, August 7th from 8:00-1:00 for ninth graders.  This amazing mentorship program connects freshmen with upperclassmen.  Your incoming freshman will tour the school, have fun and receive their schedule at the end of the program at about 12:30. This positive event is for students only – no parents please.

Your involvement in your child’s education is always desired and we will continue to offer several training and educational opportunities this year for parents. Our counselors will also be hosting grade level parent meetings to make sure you are informed about navigating high school and preparing for college and career post high school options.  We have several opportunities for parent/community involvement through our School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee and evening parent classes. Please visit the parent information page if you are interested.

March 9 – 11th will be our accreditation visit.   Accreditation is an important process designed to strengthen schools and deliver quality education programs. If you would like to be a parent who participates in the process, please contact Tami Barnum at extension 5702. The commitment will require approximately two meetings that last up to 90 minutes. Your responsibility is to simply share how PVHS has assisted you and your child.

Great things are happening at Pioneer Valley High School, and we look forward to continuing to impress you and our entire community with pride.

Go Panthers!
