Rothford Named as Varsity Baseball Head Coach
Saturday, June 30, 2012

Ryan Rothford, according to a press release issued by the school, will be Pioneer Valley’s new varsity baseball coach.

He will replace Scott Goodman. Goodman, who coached PVHS’ squad for one season, the 2012 one, will teach adaptive physical education at Santa Maria High School next school year, PVHS athletic director Greg Dickinson has said.

Rothford is a physical education teacher at PVHS. He graduated from Fresno State, where he was a catcher.

“We are excited about the new energy and direction that Mr. Rothford will bring to the Pioneer Valley High School baseball program for the upcoming 2012 season,” Dickinson stated in a press release.

Rothford is running summer workouts at Pioneer Valley Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m.-2:30 p.m. on the Pioneer Valley varsity practice fields. Incoming freshman players, and their parents, can contact Rothford at 922-1305, ext. 5516 for information about the school’s baseball program.
