It was an exciting weekend for our Pioneer Valley Panther Marching Band & Color Guard as they travelled again for competition. This time they went to the 50th Annual Band Spectacular in Simi Valley to compete with 30 other bands, performing their Halftime Shows. The Band finished 6th and our Color Guard placed 2nd (only 2 points away from 1st!!) which were both fantastic!

Director Cindy Wehlander explains, “The groups they were competing against were all incredible, and in what is known as “the circuit” where they compete most every weekend from the end of September to the beginning of November. They accumulate points to try to have the best score by the end of the season to make it to the FINALS in November (the CIF for Marching Band Shows). So, it was a wonderful accomplishment for our kids to have placed the way they did, since we only go to ONE competition in “the circuit” each year!

I am so proud of all of the kids and their performances this weekend! We have been working really hard, and today that work had paid off. We have one  more weekend of competition ahead of us in Arroyo Grande next weekend to go, and then we can relax a little before the Christmas parades start!”
