The Outstanding Leadership Program Award is given to the top leadership programs in the State of California. In order to apply, the student council must complete a self-study based on the California Leadership Standards. The programs are then evaluated by the California Association of Student Leaders.  There are more than 1500 submissions per year, and the top 50 are chosen for the award.  This is the 4th year that we have won the award - only 2 other programs in the state have been chosen for more years.

Last week, Activities Director Lisa Walters attended the California Association of Directors of Activities convention in San Diego.  The theme was "Soaring Over California", and it was attended by 2100 activity directors across the state.  "This was my first year as the Area Coordinator for the area from Thousand Oaks to Santa Cruz, and I would say that the people of CADA are some of the most dedicated and hardworking people in the world.  The mission of CADA is to provide support and information to Activity Directors to help them in helping their students excel in leadership," shared Walters.

As Jennifer Ruiz, 2018-2019 ASB President says, "Student Council teaches us so much about dedication and being a good leader.  It helps us learn skills that will help us in college - and for our lives."

As seen on the big screenThis slide was presented at the Saturday morning brunch, to a rousing round of applause for our students.  The award is all student-led.  "I am so very proud of our PVHS Student Council for their passion for leadership, their drive to provide quality events, and their dedication to include all students in events," exclaimed Walters.
