Staying Connected – SMJUHSD’s Weekly Message

Dear SMJUHSD Parents and Students,

I hope you and your family are healthy and safe during the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation. I want to thank you for your patience and flexibility, and assure you that we will continue to remain in contact to pass on information during this crisis.

Currently, our schools are now scheduled to be closed until further notice. We will continue to make decisions based on guidance from County and State governmental authorities.

Our Food Service Department will continue to provide walk-up and drive-thru pick-up lunch and breakfast meal service to all students from pre-Kinder to 12th grade, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all of our comprehensive high school – Santa Maria, Pioneer Valley, and Ernest Righetti – as long as our schools are closed.

We are developing flexible learning plans for the one-to-one devices our students have had for several years. Teachers have been instructed to work remotely and provide voluntary learning opportunities for students through Canvas, Aeries, email, or preferred app so students can access those opportunities.

For low-income families without internet, please contact Xfinity/Comcast for 60 days of complimentary internet service. Normally, it’s $9.95 a month for qualified low-income households. You can call: 1-855-846-8376 for English or 1-855-765-6995 for Spanish.

Please feel free to contact your school or district office as we move through these challenging times together. Updates will be provided weekly or as necessary.

We hope things will return to normal soon for you and your family. In the meantime, take good care of yourself and each other.
