This week’s tutor highlight is on Mae Lampitoc. Mae is a current senior and a second year Peer Tutor. Mae enjoys bullet journaling, baking and Netflix (especially Avatar: The Last Airbender). In her free time Mae volunteers with the Key Club and Future Leaders of America. Her favorite high school memories have been the many times she spent performing with the marching band as the color guard captain! After high school Mae plans to study marine biology and attend UC Santa Barbara.

"I’d say that I like tutoring because it’s an opportunity that allows me to help other students with their own personal improvements. I’ve struggled a lot throughout my high school career, and I personally understand that some of my fellow classmates need help with their schoolwork.

Working closely with someone and watching them gradually improve is such a rewarding experience—for both the tutee and myself—because it shows how much a simple gesture (like assisting with a homework assignment) can help someone. It encourages me to continue with tutoring because I know that there are other students who are looking for some help, and I know that I have the capability to help my fellow peers."
