Santa Barbara County Education Office’s Transitional Youth Services is pleased to announce the Youth Empowerment Summit that will take place on October 28thwith keynote speaker Father Greg Boyle

The entirely virtual Youth Summit is an all-day (8:30 a.m. – 4:40 p.m.) event that will bring together parents/guardians, students, educators, probation officers, social workers, and service providers to learn practices that can be incorporated into their everyday lives to help empower today's youth to become our future leader. It will be a day of breaking barriers, connecting, collaborating, and learning.

Attendees will participate in workshop tracks based on their community role (student, educator, social worker, guardian, etc.) with the full group being together at the beginning and end. Some workshop themes, like “being trauma informed,” will be included in all tracks. Workshops will cover foster and homeless youth educational rights, identifying human trafficking victims, identifying youth experiencing homelessness and connecting them to services, and more. The full agenda can be found by clicking here, and you can access the event flyer here.

Not only will students be empowered to take steps on their own to be successful, but educators will complete full Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children training, and therapists will receive continuing education units.
