Women recently diagnosed with breast cancer will receive handwritten letters of hope and support from students in the Pioneer Valley High School Family Career and Community Leaders of America club (FCCLA).

The students will drop them off for the Girls Love Mail Project in front of the campus on Monday, December 14. In exchange for the letters, FCCLA Officers plan to dish out some holiday cheer, hot chocolate and candy canes.

“I’m happy to deliver a heartfelt message to a woman going through a difficult time in her life,’’ said FCCLA Vice President Ximena Martinez.

The FCCLA selected the organization Girls Love Mail as this year’s project, with hopes the effort will uplift the women, according to teacher Jennifer Montanez. “The reasons why I look forward to this project is because it gives our students the opportunity to take a moment to share kindness and empathize,’’ added teacher Melissa Diaz. “During COVID times with less social interaction this is a great outlet to provide support towards a worthy cause.”
