New Panthers’ head baseball coach Scott Goodman made his first appearance at the luncheon and introduced two seniors, Kyle Smith and Steven Orozco.
Smith will pitch, play center field and bat in the middle of the lineup while Orozco will play at shortstop, pitcher and catcher.
“It’s nice to have seniors on board who can do a lot for you,” Goodman said.
Wrestling coach Kevin Ilac presented two girls wrestlers who did well in the California State Championships, held over the weekend in Lemoore.
Senior Monica Bobadilla finished fifth in her weight class while sophomore Courtney Tompkins took sixth.
“Both girls qualified for a national tournament in Ypsilanti, Michigan and will try to gain All-American status,” Ilac said. “So we are excited about that, which will be in March.”
New boys tennis coach Ali Azziz in his first visit to the luncheon and presented his top two singles players Roberto Aguilar and Richard Dangarian who did well in an opening season win over Santa Maria Friday.
Athletic director Greg Dickinson brought one swimmer with him, sophomore Jessica Osborn and she is an outstanding three-sport athlete and a scholar athlete.
“She’s kind of quiet but does a great job out there leading by example,” Dickinson said.
He also thank some of his coaches for their dedication.
“We are real fortunate to have guys like Coach Goodman, Coach Azziz and Coach Ilac on campus,” he said. “This year we added a number of other guys on campus to help fill some coaching voids, which is very nice.”
