Football coach Dan Ellington had a compliment for the Lompoc football team.
“If anyone doesn’t think that they can win that Division in CIF, they haven’t played them,” Ellington said. “They are a fantastic football team, so I wish them the best.”
Ellington presented three team captains — quarterback Drew Johnson, Z-back Kenny DeBone and offensive guard Esteban Garcia.
“All three are starters and they play a big role in our football team,” he said.
In his first appearance at the luncheon, Lanthier spoke for volleyball and golf.
He introduced senior captain lobero Cristine Flores and senior captain outside hitter Marissa Regalado from the volleyball team.
After Lanthier introduced junior Breanna Rosales and junior Reanna Salazar from the golf team.
“We like to think that the spirit of Neil Reed is traveling with our golf team,” Lanthier said. “They are 4-0 to start the season.”
The popular golf coach and instructor at Pioneer Valley passed away unexpectedly in July.
Lanthier reminded the audience that there will be a memorial fundraising barbecue this weekend that will benefit Reed’s family.
