PRESS RELEASE

The Pioneer Valley High School Agriculture Department recently held the 3rd Annual PV FFA 5K Race to promote and celebrate National FFA Week (Feb. 18-25).

More than 80-student runners, walkers, and some bicyclists (ag and non-ag) completed the route that looped around the school and continued into the surrounding neighborhood. Several parents, younger siblings and staff members also joined the fun. Student helpers held posters and cheered on the competitors.

“The FFA 5K was a really fun experience. I was able to run with my friends and my family. This race was a great way to start off my morning and everyone involved had a great time.” – FFA race participant and 2nd place male finisher Jeremiah Jaimes.

“The FFA 5K was a lot of fun! It was so great to see staff and students come together and participate in an activity that supports agricultural education and being active. As always, it was a well-organized and positive event.’’ – PV English Teacher Allison Pehle.

Participants received a race bib with their number, a race shirt, and medals (gold, silver, and bronze) for different categories at the end, according to Panther Agriculture Teacher Marcie Guerra.
